Advisory Opinion No. 75-16

QUESTION:

May I have business dealings with co-professionals and other professionals who are enrolled to practice before the regulatory agency of which I am a member?

RESPONSE:

Yes, you may while taking note of and observing the following qualifications and precautions.  If such dealings and business matters refer to and concern matters which are before you and to be acted upon by your regulatory agency, such business activities would be prohibited by the Nevada Ethics in Government Law Sections 24 1. & 2.  (NRS 281.700 1. & 2.) referred to above.  Note also that the law requires public officers in the exercise of their duties to avoid what would appear to be or seem to a reasonable man to be a conflict of interest under NRS 281.610 1 & 281.630 5.
