An attorney by trade, Commissioner Hutchison practices primarily in the areas of business and commercial litigation. He graduated Phi Kappa Phi from UNLV and received his JD magna cum laude from Brigham Young University. He clerked for the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple of the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is admitted to practice and has litigated cases in both state and federal courts of Nevada and California, federal courts of Arizona and Wyoming, the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Besides serving on the Commission on Ethics as Vice Chairman, Commissioner Hutchison was also appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court to serve on the prestigious Bench Bar Committee to provide advice and recommendations to the Court.
