Commissioner Shaw received his Bachelors of Arts from Catholic University, Washington, D.C.and his Masters in Education from University of Nevada, Reno. He retired after 33 years ofservice teaching English and History and serving in school administration positions in WashoeCounty. He was appointed to the City of Sparks Civil Service Commission and served for threeyears. He was elected to the Sparks City Council and later to the Washoe County Commissionwhere he served three terms.
